October

1/10/11 - I was taking out my braids, a laborious task, and while I did I watched a lizard bathe in the sun, hunt successfully, and enjoy his meal.  He then began to scale a tree. I wondered if he was conscious that he was going up a tree, I mean, if he had intent.  Was there a reason he went up that tree?  Then I watched a fly crawling through the grass, and I wondered if there was a reason he wasn't flying.  Then I wasp did the same thing.  Why crawl when you can fly?  Or is it necessary to crawl sometimes?
2/10/11 - Today I woke up at 5:30 am.  A tenant had called me about some running water outside that was keeping him awake.  I went outside only to discover there was nothing I could do about it, because it was coming from the yard of the neighbors.  As I stepped out the house a big bright orange ball fell through the sky.  It was amazing.  Then I went into the kitchen to make myself some tea, and I stepped outside and there was this star.  The star was so bright, then it got brighter, and then quickly dimmed and disappeared.  That was incredible!  The same black bee came back to the same tree today.  He only goes to the lemon tree.  In fact I never saw him in the garden before until that particular lemon tree began to flower.  There are four varieties of citrus fruit growing in the garden, though I thought they were all limes, because they were green and shaped like limes, but my boss told me that there are lemons and mandarin oranges.  A parrot flew by this evening.  His call was shrill, long and haunting.  I never heard a parrot shriek like that, it left me with an ominous feeling, before my optimism settle back in.
11/10/11 - I haven't been going out much lately.  Mostly because it became a little cold and I've been extremely lazy.  There is a fly that's been in my room for the past two days.  He keeps buzzing around me and landing on me.  I wonder why he's here.  Is he telling me things are going to get better?  I hope so, because they've been okay, but I've been believing they will improve.  Something's got to give.
I was sitting outside today, enjoying the sun and grass.  A lizard was sitting beside me soaking up the sun.  I noticed him and decided that I should soak up the sun too.  Then I moved to get into a more comfortable position and the lizard ran away.  I realized that he didn't have to change positions to move, he was already ready, and that I too, should always be in a position to quickly move to safety.  He came back, and crawled towards me, then under my legs, then he turned around to face me like he was watching me watching him.  I got a good look at him, so I think if I see him again I'll know its him.  A butterfly flew very close by my face today.  I like when animals and insects come really close to me, because it makes me feel like I fit into the environment.  They don't see me as something to avoid.

16/10/11 - I was surprised to see that roses continue to bloom into October.  They are so beautiful.  The petals of a rose are something truly divine.  The different scent of each variety is something worth exploring.  Right now there are two types of roses blooming in the garden.  There are these pale pink roses with a light innocent smell.  Then there are these dusty pink roses, with this heavy sweet acidic aroma.I joke that the pale pink roses are the virgins and the dusty pink roses just got some for the first time.
17/10/11 - Today in the park there were lots of cats.  I love orange and white cats.  I saw a bunch of parrots congregate in a tree bare of its leaves.  They were making lots of noise.  I noticed that some of them had blue tail feathers.  I hope to find a feather like that for my eagle friend.
18/10/11 - I went running in the park again today.  I would like to make it an everyday thing.  Discipline.  I was kind of amazed at how many flowers continue to bloom, while other plants are losing their foliage.  It was pretty neat.  In NY everything dies in the fall, except for evergreens.  In Florida, plants bloom all year round.  Here, some plants die, some continue to bloom.  Its a very pleasant thing to see.
19/10/11 - In the park I found a giant ant nest.  I noticed it because I could hear buzzing.  When I knelt down to examine it I saw winged ants.  They were doing all the buzzing.  They reminded me of unnecessary bosses, flying around awkwardly and without purpose other than to exert their own authority, making a bunch of noise about nothing, while the worker ants scurry about ignoring them.  Maybe they do have a purpose and I'm just irritated with my boss :) Back at home there was a wasp flying nearby, then she took a break and sat quietly on a leaf, while I watched her.  I wondered if she was watching me.  She moved her antennae as I watched her sleek yellow and black body.  They have amazing anatomy.  Brown wings similar to the flying ants.
21/10/11 - You know where I be!  I was running in the park, today there was a black cat sitting at the entrance when I entered the park.  It wasn't The Panther, this one was younger.  Then I noticed that the park was filled with kittens.  They were all over the place, doing acrobats and running to and fro.  They were adorable to watch.  I wanted to take them all home with me.  I think next time I'll bring them some food, and perhaps they'll let me pet them.  Parrots always get my attention in the park, mostly because I'm always drifting away with my thoughts.  What do I think about?  The only thing that matters to me in the world, LOVE! There was a dog wandering around sniffing at the ground.  I thought he was lost, and was searching for his owner, he was looking around and I suggested he keep his nose to the ground.  It made me think about the five senses, and the extra ones.  Again today, I marveled over the flowers that continue to bloom despite how cold it is.  Its really nice to see the deep hues of red, purple and blue, and bright yellows amidst the decaying leaves and fading grass. When I left the park a young orange and white cat had taken the place of the black cat.
26/10/11 - Roses are continuing to bloom all over the garden.  I found a beautiful bright red rose beginning to open its petals.  I can't wait to smell it when its fully open.  I noticed that there were no bees and wasps today, not even a fly.  Perhaps because it was raining earlier, but the garden seemed kind of strange without them.  I did see some weird big mosquito type animal while I was examining the bushes, I didn't get a good look at it, it moved away so fast, now that I think of it, it could have been a spider.  I saw a black beetle crawling on the wall today. There have been landslides, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes tearing things up lately, in close sequence, its kind of ominous, especially with the alignments coming up.  I feel changes inside of me, spiritual and emotional changes inside myself as well, I wonder if other people feel it too.
29/10/11 - There was a moth in my bedroom.  She stayed on the wall for a few hours and when I opened the do,or she flew out of my room. I think she was telling me to fly away as well.  I smelled a beautiful pink rose today, the soft yet heavy fragrance makes me think of love.  The red rose, still hasn't fully bloomed. The park is filled with rose bushes, I never noticed them until now.  They are all beginning to bud.  I can't wait to see when they open.  In the park I smelled laurel, but I didn't find the plant, I have to look it up to make sure I know what I'm looking for.
